How To Focus Mind And Body While You Exercise

WHEN YOU MASTER MIND-BODY FOCUS WHILE YOU EXERCISE, YOU'LL SEE AND FEEL THE DIFFERENCE.
In this article you’ll discover how to focus mind and body while you exercise and take your strength training to the next level. If you like the idea of maximising the time you spend exercising and using movement to develop physical as well as mental strength and endurance, read on.
WHAT IS MINDFUL MOVEMENT?
To move mindfully or “on purpose”, means you execute movement while being aware of yourself, your thoughts and your physical body in the present moment. As your focus travels inward, you synthesise thought and action so your outward expression or movement, is performed with conscious attention and intention.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MINDFUL MOVEMENT?
When you practice moving your body with presence, in the now moment, not only do you get more “bang for your buck” while you exercise, you’re also toning your nervous system and accessing a state of health coherence. As well as the holistic health benefits that come with moving mindfully, there are many other benefits too. By training the body and brain to be in the present moment while you exercise, your entire being is committed. You can now fully attend to the task at hand with maximum energetic input.
A strong mind-body connection amplifies the intention woven into every movement and thus the physical response. This means you see results faster. Dr Joe Dispenza, world-renowned authority on the power of the mind-body connection, says “The present moment’s importance cannot be understated because it’s our doorway to a new future. Why? Because where we place our attention is where we place our energy.” He discusses the power of the present moment in more detail in this article.
HOW TO FOCUS
Know the exercise and what specific muscle group(s) the exercise you’re performing targets. This way you can direct your focus in the right direction. Know your body. Develop a deeper understanding of your physiology so you can focus with more precision and clarity. Visualise the muscles while you move. See the muscles shortening, lengthening and strengthening. Imagine. Add mental pictures to improve technique and increase tension to illicit a more powerful response in the muscle. Keep your attention in the muscles to maintain tension throughout the entire range of movement.
When you master the art of mindful movement, the exercise experience enters a new dimension. What was once upon a time a mundane movement now becomes a powerful practice of meditation in action.
